What is Botox?
|
Botox is the most common non-surgical procedure in the world. It temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crow’s feet and neck creases. Botox is a form of Botulinum toxin that is purified and diluted for cosmetic purposes. When injected, Botox keeps certain muscles that cause wrinkles from contracting. In fact, the injections actually paralyze the nerves temporarily. This can prevent new wrinkles and fine lines from forming and help reduce the appearance of pre-existing lines and wrinkles. This results in a younger, more relaxed facial appearance.

How is Botox Administered?
Ice will be applied to the area then Botox is injected into the muscle, eliminating the wrinkles.
How Will I Feel Post-op?
The patient’s face may feel numb and you should refrain from lying down for a few hours afterwards whilst the toxins are attaching to the muscle.
What are the Risks and Benefits?
There are very few side effects associated with Botox cosmetic injections. Small bruises or red marks at the sites of the injection may appear but usually fade within a few days. Mild headaches and nausea, though rare, have been reported by patients who receive forehead injections. Some injections can cause mild muscle aches. Be sure to discuss with your doctor all the possible side effects before treatment.
