Breast implant revision, also referred to as breast
augmentation revision, is a surgical procedure involving the removal
and/or replacement of breast implants to correct complications that
have occurred after breast augmentation surgery. Whether silicone or
saline, breast implants are not made to last a lifetime and eventually
they will need to be replaced. Some women may want adjustments made
also.
How is a Breast Implant Revision Performed?
Your
breast implant revision options will be dictated by the complications
you are having with your implants. Complications may arise from the
size, shape, texture, or positioning of the primary implants. Your
surgeon will advise you on how to best proceed with your breast
augmentation revision.
How Will I Feel Post-op?
Although
the breast skin and tissue are already accustomed to the presence of
implants, recovering from breast augmentation revision is very similar
to the recovery experienced after the initial implant surgery. Symptoms
such as swelling, soreness, and stiffness are to be expected for the
first week or two. Compression garments should also be worn.
