What is Thermage?
Thermage is a non-surgical procedure that can give you a natural facelift. The procedure reduces the signs of ageing, tightening the skin to leave a more youthful appearance.
How is Thermage Performed?
Thermage is performed through the use of ThermaCool, a radio-frequency device that allows for tightening of skin without injury to the skin’s top layer (epidermis). It works by transferring deep, uniform, sustained heat in the tissue underneath the surface of the skin and produces contraction and tightening of excessively lax skin. The collagen under the skin tightens from the heat and the outside of the skin is protected with a cooling spray. The number of treatments varies from patient to patient.
How Will I Feel Post-op?
Patients will feel a deep, heating sensation as the thermatip is passed over the skin. Patients must also expect a tightening of the skin. The skin will also display some minor redness (similar to sunburn) which dissipates quickly. A soothing cream can be applied to ease discomfort.
What are the Risks and Benefits?
Studies have shown Thermage to be very safe, although loss of fat in the face and skin damage is possible. However, the effects are unlikely to be long term.
Am I a Candidate for Thermage?
If you want a younger, more youthful face without surgery, this is the best option for you.
What are the Long Term Effects?
The results will be seen gradually over a three to six month period and can last for several years.
